ICUE BEGAN WITH A SUMMER PROGRAM IN 1999, CONSISTS OF WORKSHOPS AND SYMPOSIA. IN CLOSE COLLABORATION WITH COMMUNITY ENTREPRENEURS AND ORGANIZATIONS THE WORKSHOPS UNDERTOOK THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF SPECIAL PROJECTS IN OUR STUDY AREA. THESE PROJECTS MARK THE BEGINNING OF A PLANNED LONG-TERM COMMITMENT TO THE CITY OF DETROIT AND, IN PARTICULAR, TO DETROIT'S NEAR EAST SIDE COMMUNITY. IN ADDITION TO THESE REALIZED WORKS,
ICUE HAS BEGAN A COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS AND DOCUMENTATION OF DETROIT'S PHYSICAL. ECONOMIC, AND SOCIAL LANDSCAPE. THIS WORK IS TO AGGREGATE A CRITICAL PORTRAIT OF THE CITY'S RESOURCES AND HISTORY.
